The SEC Is Embarrassing Itself During College Football's Bowl Season

When Alabama, South Carolina and Ole Miss were left out of the College Football Playoff, many fans and college football pundits cried foul.
After all, people argued, even though all three of those SEC programs finished 9-3, they were more deserving of at-large bids to the Playoff than Indiana and SMU, who posted better records in the Big Ten and ACC. When Indiana and SMU were beaten in sound fashion in the first round of the CFP, the cries became louder.
Fast forward to today though, and Alabama and South Carolina both played poorly in bowl losses to Michigan and Indiana. The Big Ten is now 4-1 against the SEC in bowl season, including Ohio State's blowout of Tennessee in the College Football Playoff.
The SEC and its followers love to brag about conference supremacy, but today, they are bearing the brunt of taunts from fans and media members.
"Emphatic statement made by Alabama and South Carolina today. The committee won't dare doubt the SEC next time around!!!" trolled NFL insider Albert Breer, an Ohio State alum.
"What happens if Notre Dame beats Georgia worse than it beat Indiana? Could you imagine," wondered On3's Ari Wasserman.
"The important thing to remember is that Alabama and South Carolina won both of these games today by 20 in Hypothetical Land," said Football Scoop's Zach Barnett.
"The SEC talking smack for a month only for Tennessee to get decimated by Ohio State, and then Alabama and South Carolina to get manballed by Michigan and Illinois is the most hilarious storyline in CFB this year," chimed in writer Cameron Soran.
"I'm confused. Weren't Alabama and South Carolina supposed to be in the playoffs? That's why you play the game. Talk is talk. Results head to head matter," added Husker Online's Sean Callahan.
"Very disappointed with South Carolina. I championed them for weeks But result don't lie. Big 10 kicking a-- this bowl season," said ESPN's Aaron Murray.
Of course, Georgia and Texas remain alive in the College Football Playoff, and Ole Miss will play Duke in its bowl game on Thursday, so there's time for the SEC to redeem itself.
For now though, the league must take its lumps.
