For fans of college football, the renewal of the rivalry between Texas and Texas A&M has been the best aspect of the Longhorns' move to the SEC.

For the first time since 2011, the two longtime rivals will play, and there's a lot on the line in this year's version of the storied rivalry.

The winner of this year's game will advance to the SEC championship game, where they'll have a chance to earn a first-round bye as one of the top conference champions in the country.

The game has national implications this time around, but it was always going to be important to those who live in Austin and College Station. The locals were in rare form ahead of this weekend's game, and one fan was turned away from Kyle Field after making an incredible entrance.

A Texas fan rode a longhorn steer into College Station ahead of the big game, continuing the tradition of live animals being centered in the rivalry.

Texas has proudly displayed Bevo in their stadium for several years, with players celebrating with the live Longhorn following an interception last week.

Saturday's game will be a chance for A&M to earn a rare victory in the rivalry, as Texas has traditionally dominated the matchup throughout their history. The Longhorns lead the all-time count with 76 wins to A&M's 37, and Texas won nine of the last 12 meetings before the series went dormant after the 2011 season.

In the past, the two teams competed against one another in the Big 12, but tonight they'll do so for the first time under the SEC banner.

The winner of Saturday's game will face Georgia in the SEC title game next week, after Georgia clinched their spot with a dramatic multi-overtime victory over their own hated rival in Georgia Tech.

We'll see which team from Texas emerges victorious in tonight's matchup, but it's clear that fans of the Aggies and the Longhorns are certainly excited about getting the chance to play one another again after more than a decade.

The game can be seen nationally on ESPN at 7:30 PM ET.
