NFL Fans Calling For Terry Bradshaw To Retire (1:06)

Terry Bradshaw apologized to his coworkers live on the air on Sunday afternoon.

The NFL on FOX analyst has been taking heat for his performance this season. Bradshaw, 76, won four Super Bowls and made the Hall of Fame as a player. He has been in broadcasting, working with Fox Sports, for multiple decades now. Bradshaw has been taking heat for his performance in 2024, getting criticized for a questionable accent after Hurricane Helene and a blunt comment on Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Some NFL fans have been calling for Bradshaw to retire. He didn't help his cause on Sunday.

On Sunday, Bradshaw mistakenly referred to his Fox Sports colleague, Rob Gronkowski, as a guest analyst. Gronkowski has been full-time for Fox Sports for a couple of years now.

"The guy whose seat you're sitting in right now, filling in for... Jimmy Johnson," Gronkowski said, referring to 81-year-old former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson.

Bradshaw's NFL on FOX colleagues quickly pointed out that Gronkowski was not a guest, but rather a permanent addition to the show.

"Okay, I made a mistake," he admitted. "All right, all right, I apologize, Gronk, you know I love you."

Bradshaw has made a couple of on-air blunders this season. One former NFL quarterback turned broadcaster, Boomer Esiason, has been "worried."

"I worked up against them for the last 22 years, I haven't seen a lot of their show," Esiason said earlier in the year. "Obviously, I see it during the Super Bowl or when there's one game for a playoff game, but I felt like it was a little disconcerting yesterday. I was worried about him. Is that the way it's been?"

Live television is difficult, whether you're 46 or 76. Mistakes happen to everyone - even the greats. But for Bradshaw, they seem to have been happening more and more this season.

Maybe he doesn't need to retire, but perhaps a lesser role, similar to the one Lee Corso has taken on ESPN's College GameDay, would be fitting for the former NFL quarterback.

What would you do with Bradshaw if you were running Fox Sports?
