Syracuse Coach Fran Brown Takes Shot At Ohio State's Ryan Day

Syracuse head coach Fran Brown got the biggest win of his young career this past weekend as his Orange upset the No. 6 Miami Hurricanes. He's had quite a lot to say in the aftermath of that historic upset included a veiled shot at Ohio State head coach Ryan Day.
Appearing on The Jim Rome Show, Brown addressed the success he enjoyed in his first season and credited his 9-3 regular season record in part to quarterback Kyle McCord. McCord was the starting quarterback for the Day's Buckeyes last season, and after seeing the Buckeyes suffer a stunning loss to Michigan, Brown couldn't help but mock Day a little for letting McCord walk away.
"I'm excited, I'm really happy for him," Brown said, via Awful Announcing. "I'm happy for his family. It's a big deal because he's from New Jersey and I'm from New Jersey. So I'm just excited for our communities. Everyone down there represents him. But just the country to be able to see how good of a football player he is."

Brown said that McCord was largely blamed for the Buckeyes' inability to beat Michigan in 2023 and feels that McCord's historic performance for the Orange this season proves that he wasn't the problem in Columbus or Ann Arbor. He joked that he owes Ryan Day "a bottle of champagne" for allowing him to get McCord.
"It was kinda put out that he was the reason (for Ohio State's struggles in 2023). So I guess after watching him win this weekend… I don't know what happened to that piece. You know, you're seeing the same results again, you can't blame Kyle, correct? So I'm happy that Kyle was able to go and clear his name. Come here and show that he is a good quarterback.
"I got ridiculed for saying I wanted to send Ryan Day a bottle of champagne. I wasn't being disrespectful, I was just saying this guy is the real deal and you guys let him come here. Great, thank you, I still owe him. I should send him some more. I should send him a (expletive) case, not even the bottle. Excuse my language, but I'm just extremely excited and thankful for Kyle."
Brown has every right to be excited just as Buckeyes fans have every right to be frustrated right now. Syracuse have just tied their best regular season record of the past 30 years while the Buckeyes have to simply hope and pray that the College Football Playoff Selection Committee doesn't come down too hard on them for having two losses this season, with one coming against a very average Michigan team - a Michigan team that one-loss Indiana beat with ease.
What does the future hold for Day after his latest loss to Michigan?
