Steelers Appear To Make Decision On Russell Wilson For 2025 Season

Russell Wilson has been a seamless fit in Pittsburgh during the 2024 season.
The Steelers signed him to a one-year prove-it deal when free agency opened and wanted to see what he had left after a couple of super rough years with the Denver Broncos.
He was banged up during the first six weeks of the season but has come up with a vengeance, going 6-2 as the starter and leading the Steelers to the playoffs. They have a 10-4 record and are a win against the Ravens away from clinching the AFC North.
Wilson has worked so well in Pittsburgh that the Steelers want to bring him back for the 2025 season. Per Jordan Schultz, there's a "very good" chance that the Steelers give Wilson a similar deal that Baker Mayfield got with the Bucs last offseason, which was three years and $100 million.
"I'm telling you Colin, there is a very good chance that the Steelers extend Russell Wilson similarly to what Tampa did with Baker Mayfield — 3 years, $100 million," Schultz said on The Herd with Colin Cowherd.
Schultz added that Pittsburgh views Wilson as the "solution" to the team's quarterback problems.

It's a lot of money but that's where the quarterback market is right now. The Steelers could put some clauses in it so they wouldn't get hurt by the deal if Wilson's play regresses but that's a discussion for after the season.
Still, they're happy with how Wilson has played and would like to extend this partnership. In eight games, Wilson is completing 64.7% of his passes for 1,912 yards, 13 touchdowns, and three interceptions.
The Steelers will try and clinch the AFC North with a win over the Ravens in Baltimore on Saturday before coming home to play the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day (December 25). They'll then finish the regular season with a home game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Kickoff for round two of Steelers-Ravens will be at 4:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
