Authorities are investigating a shooting at Katy Mills Mall in Katy, Tex. on Monday night.
Early reports indicate one individual shot another inside the mall earlier tonight, with both individuals fleeing the scene. As of now, no injuries have been reported, and it remains unclear what led to shots being fired. The incident was "isolated," according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
"Update: it now appears that a shooting may have occurred inside the mall, but not an active scene, more of an isolated incident and two persons involved have fled the scene," Gonzalez wrote on X/Twitter. "Katy PD is lead agency and further updates to come from them. HCSO will assist with traffic control, as efforts are being made to vacate the mall in an orderly manner."
The official City of Katy X/Twitter account also shared a brief update a short time ago.
"Shots were fired inside Entry 4 earlier this evening. There have been no reported injuries, & the scene is secure with no active threat. Please avoid the area and expect travel delays surrounding the mall during this time," the update reads.
