Meet The Daughter Of The Chiefs' Owner (1:30)

Prior to kickoff between the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans, singer Lanell Lightfoot performed the national anthem at Arrowhead Stadium. Unfortunately, it didn't go according to plan.

Towards the end of Lightfoot's performance, she extended the final few words. While that has happened in the past, it became pretty evident that fans didn't like her version of "The Star-Spangled Banner."

Immediately after Lightfoot wrapped up the national anthem, NFL fans went on social media to share their unfiltered thoughts. Let's just say they're not being very kind right now.

"She butchered the National Anthem," one fan tweeted.

Another fan said, "Whoever sang the national anthem for the chiefs game needs to find a new hobby

"Why do they always have to butcher the National Anthem? Every. Single. Time," a third fan said.

"They need to just start playing a recording for the singing of the national anthem cause enough is enough," a fourth person wrote.

Perhaps the saving grace in this situation is that four CH-47 Chinook helicopters flew over Arrowhead Stadium at the end of this pregame ceremony.

Unfortunately, that epic moment didn't overshadow the criticism that Lightfoot is receiving on social media.

We'll see if Lightfoot eventually addresses the criticism she's receiving online.

As for the game, the Chiefs opened up this game with an impressive kickoff return. They had to settle for a field goal after their drive stalled in the red zone.
