Ryan Day Warns Rest Of NFL After Marvin Harrison Jr's Breakout Game

Following a brief detour, Marvin Harrison Jr. hit the ground running.
The Arizona Cardinals wide receiver stumbled out of the gate, catching one pass for four yards in a lackluster NFL debut. However, the No. 4 pick quickly quelled any concerns with a stellar follow-up performance. Harrison amassed 130 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 41-10 victory over the Los Angeles Rams.
Ryan Day expects Harrison to become the latest former Ohio State wideout to make his mark at the next level. The Buckeyes head coach predicted big things for the rookie.
"Marvin Harrison is a wonderful player," Day told reporters Tuesday (h/t On3). "He's gonna have a great career in the NFL. So after a week, or if it was two weeks or three weeks, you know Marv's gonna be a great player in the NFL. He's just such a pro. He's going to translate very well in that league, so this is just the beginning of what he's able to do."
So much for Harrison being too slow. The Hall of Famer's son shook up a difficult Week 1 by connecting with Kyler Murray on 23 and 60-yard scores during the first quarter of Sunday's landslide win at State Farm Stadium.
Day said those plays looked improvised, but Harrison's abilities will allow him to keep making explosive gains downfield.
"He's a great route-runner, so he's gonna have these types of days," Day added. "We're proud of what he's doing."
Harrison set immense expectations when leaving Ohio State with 2,532 yards and 29 touchdowns over his last two seasons. He could top recent first-round picks Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba as the best of the former Buckeyes receivers who played for Day.
He'll aim for another huge Sunday when Arizona faces the Detroit Lions in Week 3.
