Ryan Day Had Message For Critics After Ohio State's Cotton Bowl Win

Roughly a month ago, Ohio State fans thought Ryan Day should be on the hot seat. Fast forward to this Friday night, and he has officially punched his ticket to the national championship game.
Despite being tested on all night long, Ohio State made just enough winning plays down the stretch to defeat Texas in the Cotton Bowl. The Buckeyes grabbed a 21-14 lead over the Longhorns with about seven minutes left thanks to a 13-play, 88-yard touchdown drive. It seemed like the Longhorns were going to tie things up, but the Buckeyes had an incredible stand near the goal line.
On fourth-and-goal with just over two minutes remaining, Ohio State's Jack Sawyer stripped the football out of Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers' possession and then returned the fumble 83 yards to the house. That was essentially the knockout punch from the Buckeyes.
After the Cotton Bowl ended, Day spoke to ESPN's Rece Davis about Ohio State making it to the national title game. His postgame remark was quite interesting.
"A month ago a lot of people counted us out," Day said.
If we had to guess, Day was most likely throwing shade at those who called for his job in December. Suffice to say, he got the last laugh.
Next up for Ohio State is a showdown with Notre Dame. Oddsmakers have the Buckeyes as overwhelming favorites for this matchup.
Notre Dame earned a spot in the national title game by defeating Penn State in the Orange Bowl. Marcus Freeman's squad has looked awfully impressive over the past three games.
The national championship game will be played on Jan. 20.
