Report: Yankees, A's Agree To Veteran Player Trade

The New York Yankees and Oakland A's have agreed to a veteran player trade on Sunday.

New York, which is in need of some veteran bat help following the injuries to Anthony Rizzo and Giancarlo Stanton, have agreed to a trade with Oakland.

The Yankees announced the news on social media on Sunday afternoon.

"The New York Yankees today announced that they have acquired infielder J.D. Davis and cash considerations from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for infielder Jordan Groshans. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Yankees have transferred RHP Nick Burdi to the 60-day injured list," the team announced on Sunday afternoon.

Davis, who previously played for the Mets, is hitting .236 with four home runs and five RBI this season. He previously played for the Giants, Mets and Astros.

The Yankees are 52-27 on the season, good for the best record in all of baseball. 

New York is taking on Atlanta in the final game of a three-game series on Sunday afternoon. The Yankees and the Braves are beginning play at 1:35 p.m. E.T.
