Report: Kentucky In Contact With Son Of Longtime NBA Star

Kentucky head coach Mark Pope is working awfully hard to poach at least one marquee player from the transfer portal. 

According to Jacob Polacheck of Kentucky Sports Radio, the Wildcats have reached out to Stanford transfer Andrej Stojakovic. 

Stojakovic, a former four-star recruit, averaged 7.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game as a freshman. He's the son of former NBA forward Peja Stojakovic. 

Peja Stojakovic was a three-time All-Star during his NBA career, averaging 17.0 points per game while making 40.1 percent of his attempts from downtown.

Even though Andrej Stojakovic didn't light up the boxscore at Stanford, the former McDonald's All-American has proven he can be a threat from beyond the arc.

If Kentucky lands Stojakovic, that would be a nice win for Pope and the Wildcats. 

Kentucky has already lost Aaron Bradshaw, Zvonimir Ivisic and D.J. Wagner to the transfer portal. Pope needs to replace that talent this offseason in order for his program to contend. 

On the flip side, Pope already got Collin Chandler to flip his commitment from BYU to Kentucky. That's not a huge surprise, though. 

Pope, who won a national championship as a player for Kentucky, coached at BYU from 2019-2024. He won 110 games during that stretch. 

Time will tell if Pope can lead Kentucky back to the promised land.
