Meet The Wives And Girlfriends Of NASCAR'S Top Drivers (1:16)

NASCAR fans received heartbreaking news this month involving longtime FDNY Racing crew chief Bob Rahilly.

Rahilly was unfortunately involved in a house fire on Jan. 12 that resulted in him suffering third-degree burns. Authorities said the fire at his home in Stevens Mill Road broke out early in the morning.

"At 12:19am Hemby Bridge along with Stallings's was alerted to a possible structure fire. Dispatch started receiving multiple calls of the fire," the Stallings Fire Department said. "The first unit on scene advised a fully involved structure. Mint Hill was added to the card. The fire is still under investigation by the Union County Fire Marshal Office."

Rahilly's injuries are severe enough that he'll spend at least the next two months at the Wake Forest Baptist Burn Center.

"Thoughts and Prayers out to one of our FDNY Racing Crew members," FDNY Racing wrote on the platform formerly known as Twitter. "Our own Bob Rahilly was injured in a housefire yesterday afternoon and is in the hospital still with 3rd degree burns and injuries. Please keep your thoughts and prayers with him at this time."

As soon as this news was shared on social media, NASCAR fans offered their support to the Rahilly family.

"I'm devastated," one person said in response to the news. "Pray if you do. Good vibes and thoughts otherwise."

Another person wrote, "Praying for a speedy recovery."

"Prayers for Bob, his partner and his brother Richard," a fan tweeted.

"Terrible to hear. Wishing Bob Rahilly a swift recovery," a NASCAR fan added.

Rahilly isn't just known for being a crew chief. He was the co-owner of RahMoc Enterprises, which competed in the NASCAR Cup Series from 1978-1992. His team won four races with Neil Bonnett.

We're wishing Rahilly a full and speedy recovery.
