LPGA Tour star Charley Hull has built a huge following through her health and fitness posts on social media. But she's often been criticized for smoking cigarettes and now intends to address it.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, Hull announced that she intends to kick the habit and had an expensive method of making sure she follows through with it. After handing over her pack of cigarettes to golfer Ryan Evans, she announced that she will give Evans £10,000 if she picks up a cigarette even one time in the next two months.

"Today, I've made a decision, I'm gonna stop smoking," Hull said. "A £10,000 bet, if I pick up a cigarette in the next two months, I'll give you £10,000 — and I'm shaking on that. Deal?"

Golf fans on social media were surprised but happy to see Hull agree to the bet. Just about everyone is praising her for the move, pointing out that it will likely help out her career on top of her long-term health.

"Wise choice. Your running times will improve," one user replied.

"Good move!!,not only for ur health but for the images to give to young fans. You are adored by many," wrote another.

"Proud of you!I respect any of yr decision anyway! Your life your choice.."

"Good decision Charley. I smoked for WAY TOO LONG and tried so many times to quit. I finally went through an accupuncture treatment -- just one! -- and haven't had a cigarette since (been 20 years now). I had tried everything else from Hypnosis, to patches, to pills to cold turkey and nothing else did the trick...No clue how it works but it sure did it for me! Best of luck on your go...very happy your'e doing it at a much younger age than I did!"

2024 was a rougher year for Hull in the LPGA majors compared to the year before. But she still claimed a win on the LPGA European Tour as part of the Aramco Team Series in Riyadh this past November.

Will quitting smoking give her golf career a boost?
