Photo Of Royals Star After Losing To Yankees Is Heartbreaking

The Kansas City Royals' outstanding 2024 season came to an end on Thursday night.

A year removed from losing 106 games, they won 86 games and got to the ALDS this year before losing in four games to the New York Yankees. They beat the Baltimore Orioles in one of the wild-card series before the Yankees proved to be too much.

After the final out was recorded, Royals star Bobby Witt Jr. stayed in the dugout and watched the Yankees celebrate on the Royals' infield.

Take a look:

He didn't want to leave after how great of a season the Royals had.

Witt Jr. had an incredible season for the Royals, finishing with 32 home runs and 109 RBIs. He also had 211 hits and a .332 batting average.

Even though he's only been in the league for three seasons, he's already one of the best players in baseball. He put up those numbers a year after he finished the 2023 season with 30 home runs and 96 RBIs off a .276 batting average.

He and the Royals will be back for more next year since they seem to only be getting started.

Meanwhile, the Yankees will play the winner of the Guardians-Tigers series in the ALCS.
