A PGA Tour golfer is sparking controversy by wearing a MAGA hat in a recent photo.

The sports world has become more inundated by support of Donald Trump. We've seen athletes like Nick Bosa, Brock Bowers and Christian Pulisic all doing Trump's famous shuffle dance as a celebration. The NFL has since made it clear that they won't be disciplining players for the Trump-themed celebration. But if any sport is going to be supportive of Donald Trump as he returns to office in 2025, it's probably golf. After all, the sport is predominantly white and rich. And Trump has serious ties to the game, too.

But one PGA Tour player is taking heat for wearing a MAGA hat in a recent photo.

Sam Burns, a five-time winner on the PGA Tour, rocked a Make America Great Again hat in a recent photo. He was posing with a buck that he had killed.

"Deer hunting is great again!" he wrote.

Burns received some support on social media for his photo, though there were plenty of critics, too.

"This is so American," one fan wrote.

"So many softies in here it's unreal. Keep it up boss," one fan added.

"Where does one get such a hat?" one fan added.

"I'm not sure what bible you all are reading but a Trump follower is the antithesis of a Christian," one fan added.

"Fade Sam Burns 2025 and beyond. This is so highly disappointing," one fan added.

"The urge to kill an animal, pose for a picture with its still-warm carcass, and then post that photo all over social media? Mate, you're absolutely right," one fan added.

Athletes are allowed to support whoever they choose, and it's honestly good to see more and more athletes getting involved in the political space, but they have to be willing to take the criticism, as well.
