The College Football Playoff field is taking shape, but there are still two weeks worth of games to factor into the rankings.

As of right now, Indiana is projected by most analysts to make the field. The Hoosiers suffered their first loss of the season Saturday, 38-15 at Ohio State, putting their CFP status in doubt. Of course, there's still no guarantee they make the field, but Indiana was helped by Alabama and Ole Miss each suffering their third losses of the season later in the day.

On "McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning" Monday, ESPN's Paul Finebaum acknowledged that Indiana appears likely to get in, but admitted he does not hold much hope for them doing much when they get there.

"They're going to get in, and now I can't wait," Finebaum said of the Hoosiers. "I just hope that they get to go to an SEC team's home stadium on that Friday or Saturday night. And then I think we can find out what we already know, that the SEC team will beat them badly."

That's not exactly going to dampen Finebaum's reputation as an SEC homer. Not like he cares though.

Following his team's loss to the Buckeyes, Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti, who had previously called out SEC programs for their non-conference scheduling, didn't offer much when asked if he felt the Hoosiers "deserve" to be in the playoff.

"I don't make those decisions. It's more important for me now that I focus on the next game. Big rival (Purdue). That needs to be everybody's focus," Cignetti said.

Purdue is 1-10 on the season and 0-8 in Big Ten play, so if IU can't beat them, it will not only be a disappointing finish to a breakthrough season, it will also confirm the Hoosiers are not CFP material.

That rivalry game will take place at 7 p.m. ET Saturday night in Bloomington.
