A Look Into Jackson Mahomes' Basketball Career (1:11)

Is it better to be lucky or good? For Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, how about both?

The Chiefs topped the Broncos, 16-14, at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on Sunday. Kansas City improved to 9-0 on the year, but late in the game, a loss seemed imminent. The Broncos had a game-winning 35-yard field goal set up for kicker Wil Lutz. For NFL kickers, anything under 40 yards is basically an extra point. But when you're facing the Chiefs, that's not the case, apparently.

Kansas City was able to block the 35-yard field goal attempt from Sean Payton's team, locking up the win. Andy Reid's team remained unbeaten on the year.

Many in the NFL world are calling the 2024 Kansas City Chiefs the "luckiest" team in the league - and perhaps of all-time. They've won close game after close game this year. No matter what you do against the Chiefs, it doesn't seem like anything can stop them.

But Mahomes doesn't seem to mind. A win is a win, after all. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback took to social media to post a one-word - one letter, even - message on X, formerly known as Twitter, following the victory.

"W," he wrote.

Mahomes and the Chiefs are coming off two straight Super Bowl wins. They are going for a third and, so far, no one in the National Football League has been able to stop them in 2024.

The Chiefs improved to a league-best 9-0 on the season with the close win on Sunday.

The road doesn't get any easier for the Chiefs moving forward, either. Kansas City is scheduled to take on Buffalo at 4:25 p.m. E.T. next weekend.

The game will air on CBS.
