Patrick Mahomes is going to go to bed tonight with a huge smile on his face. That's because the Kansas City Chiefs traded up to pick No. 28 to select Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy.

Worthy solidified his status as a first-round pick during the NFL Combine by running a 4.21 in the 40-yard dash. That broke the previous record set by John Ross.

Mahomes actually congratulated Worthy in March on breaking the record for fastest time in the 40-yard dash.

With that said, Mahomes rushed to social media to celebrate Kansas City's selection. The three-time Super Bowl MVP simply posted the sprinting emoji.

Worthy hasn't had any conversations with Chiefs reporters yet, but there's no question he's happy about the way things played out.

Prior to the NFL Draft, Worthy said he'd be the "perfect" player for the Chiefs.

"Just the way Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs improvise and use you. They had Tyreek Hill," Worthy said. "The way they used him, I feel like that would be a perfect fit for me."

Worthy had 197 catches for 2,755 yards and 26 touchdowns during his career at Texas.

If Worthy is even half as good as Hill was in Kansas City, it'll be tough to stop the two-time defending champions.
