"Panthers QB Andy Dalton was involved in a car accident in Charlotte today, team spokesperson confirms to @NFLonCBS . Dalton, his wife, three kids and dog were in the car. Thankfully, no one from Dalton's car was transported by emergency medical personnel," Jones wrote on X.

In a follow-up report, Jones reported that Dalton is being evaluated by the Panthers' medical team but there are no available details beyond that.

Dalton is a 14-year NFL veteran who took over as the starting quarterback of the Carolina Panthers in Week 3 following a string of bad performances by Week 1 starter Bryce Young.

Dalton acquitted himself well in his first start by leading the Panthers to their first win of the season against the Las Vegas Raiders. But the Panthers have fallen back to their losing ways in the four weeks since while the defense has given up 37 points per game in that span.

We certainly hope that Dalton and everyone involved in the car accident gets a clean bill of health.
