Panthers Fans Taking Heat For 'Classless' Behavior At Stanley Cup

The Florida Panthers won the ultimate prize in hockey Monday night, beating the Edmonton Oilers in Game 7 to capture the Stanley Cup.

While delirious Panthers fans celebrate the franchise's first title, they also earned some outside criticism for booing Edmonton star Connor McDavid after he won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP.

McDavid, the sixth player all-time to win the Conn Smythe after losing the Stanley Cup Final, did not accept the award, having already retired to the locker room. 

That didn't stop some of the crowd at Amerant Bank Arena from booing the 27-year-old star, which resulted in them being accused of being "classless."

"Classless of Panthers fans to boo Conor McDavid for winning the Con Smythe. He was the best player on the ice in the series. Give him his due," said one commenter on X/Twitter.

"Agree… hard to accept individual trophy when team lost the trophy PLUS it was a toxic environment with the panthers fan being classless and lacking sportsmanship by booing at the announcement," said another.

"The booing by some Panther fans was classless," a third person added.

"The Florida fans were beyond classless for that," said a fourth person. "Despite the antics and my hate for the Panthers happy for Barkov and Bob. Barkov is one of the most respected players in the league by far."

"Cut out on my tv - in Colorado. My guess is the classless booing by Panthers Fans was also laced with profanity," a fifth person chimed in.

Classless or not, we're sure Panthers fans are willing to take this ridicule as a tradeoff for winning the Cup.
