Paige Spiranac Turns Heads With Golf Course Change Suggestion

Paige Spiranac regularly shares her thoughts on changes she would make to the game of golf.
Over the last several years, Spiranac, 32, has established herself as golf's top social media influencer. Yes, her looks have played a major role, and Spiranac is not shy about admitting that. But, make no mistake, the Wheat Ridge, Colorado native is a serious golfer, having played collegiately at the Division I level and briefly as a professional.
Spiranac offers golf tips on social media as well as on her personal subscription site. She also provides her ideas on how to improve and grow the sport, particularly for beginners.
In a new video on X/Twitter Tuesday, Spiranac proposed a change to the traditional Slope and Course Rating metrics currently used to measure how difficult a course is.
If you're unfamiliar, the Course Rating is defined as what a scratch golfer is expected to shoot on that course under normal conditions, while the Slope Rating "represents the relative difficulty of a course for non-scratch players compared to those who are scratch players."
Spiranac thinks the metrics are "way too confusing" for beginner golfers to understand and thinks the ratings can be simplified.
"So, what I'm proposing is a simplified course rating system from 1-to-10, so beginner golfers know what courses are beginner-friendly," Spiranac said. "1-to-4, I can play, 5, a little dicey. 6-to-10, I should avoid. And before you get your panties in a twist, nothing would happen with the current course rating system and your handicap. This is just a new, friendly way to get beginner golfers into the game of golf and to help them understand what courses they should or shouldn't be playing when they're starting out."

Sounds simple and effective, but that system might not be detailed enough for more experienced golfers to use.
Perhaps an integration of the current metrics and what Spiranac is talking about would work best.
Golfers, let us know what you think.
