Only 1 Undefeated Team Remains In College Football

Before you decide to be a smart-aleck, no - we're not counting the FCS, Division II or Division III (no offense to the likes of Montana State, Kutztown, Valdosta State or the others).
Following Indiana's blowout loss to Ohio State and Army's subsequent blowout loss to Notre Dame on Saturday, only one team remains undefeated in the top subdivision of college football: The Oregon Ducks.
After beating Wisconsin last weekend 16-13, Oregon rose to 11-0 on the season and clinched their first-ever spot in the Big Ten Championship Game. Several hours after the Ducks beat the Badgers, they got to watch as BYU also fell from the undefeated ranks against Kansas. They had a bye this week and got to savor seeing two more teams fall lose the 0 from the loss column.
Indiana looked poised to at least give Ohio State a fight early on as they took a 7-0 lead into the second quarter. But a special teams collapse following a statement fourth quarter from the Buckeyes resulted in a 38-15 blowout that may very well eliminate the previously unbeaten Hoosiers from the College Football Playoff discussion altogether.
A few hours later, the Army Black Knights faced off against No. 6 Notre Dame in a game both teams needed to stay alive in the College Football Playoff. As many expected, Notre Dame dominated the game pretty much from the get-go, racing out to a 14-0 lead en route to a 49-7 blowout win, ending Army's unbeaten run and putting their College Football Playoff hopes on life support.

As for Oregon, they boast the most accurate passer in the country in quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who has thrown for 3,066 yards and 22 touchdowns while completing 73.8-percent of his passes. Gabriel might even be a dark horse candidate for the Heisman Trophy if he can lead the Ducks a 13-0 record and a Big Ten title.
But if Oregon make it all the way to the national title game, they have a shot at becoming the first-ever college football team to play 16 games in a season.
There's a lot of football left to play but only one that will keep playing as an undefeated team.
