Olivia Dunne and Paul Skenes celebrated a major accomplishment this week.

Skenes was named the National League Rookie of the Year on Monday after dominating in his first big league action with the Pittsburgh Pirates. After being called up, Skenes posted an 11-3 record in 23 starts, logging a 1.96 ERA and 0.95 WHIP, along with 170 strikeouts in 133 innings. The former No. 1 overall pick and LSU star firmly established himself as a budding superstar for 2025 and beyond.

In an Instagram post captioned "That was cool," Dunne showed off some of the moments from Skenes' big day, including a pretty awesome giant chocolate chip cookie cake with Pirates-colored frosting

"Rookie & A Cookie. Congrats ROY!" reads the message on the cake, which can be seen in the second slide below.

In an interview with MLB Network, Dunne called the experience of watching her boyfriend's rookie season "like watching a fairy tale."

Of the many memorable milestones to choose from, Dunne picked Skenes' first road start against the Chicago Cubs as the one that stood out most.

"My favorite moment from Paul's rookie season was when he pitched the first time at Wrigley Field," she said. "I wasn't there, but I was screaming on my phone, jumping up and down. I was so excited. He did amazing."

Moving forward, Skenes is going to be expected to contend for Cy Young Awards and help the Pirates get back to the playoffs for the first time in a decade.

"We obviously have a really good core in our starting rotation," Skenes said of the Pirates' future. "In the lineup, too. We have an opportunity to help the guys we have improve. That's something I'm bought in on. It's something our front office and coaching staff are bought in on as well. We're on the right track."
