2024 has been a great year for Ohio State football. The Buckeyes are ranked No. 2 in the country, appear primed for the College Football Playoff, where they'll look to capture their first national title in a decade.

To make things even better for Ohio State, their success is coming during a relative down year for their most hated rival.

Michigan is 5-4 this season after last week's loss to Oregon, with next to no hope of making the Playoff and on the outside looking in when it comes to the Big Ten title race.

The Wolverines have dominated Ohio State over the last few years, and with all signs pointing to a reversal of those roles this season, the Ohio State band had some fun at Michigan's expense.

During halftime of their game against Purdue, the Ohio State band took the form of a bear pooping on the Michigan logo. The stunt from the band drew cheers and laughter from the Buckeye faithful at the Horseshoe.

There's a reason why the Buckeyes are so confident this season, and it's because of how they've played on the field. With the exception of a few plays against Oregon, Ohio State has been among the best teams in the country all season long.

They certainly looked like championship contenders on Saturday against a long-time Big Ten foe in Purdue. The Buckeyes won 45-0 against the Boilermakers, dominating all three phases of the game for a massive win.

Ohio State appears to be on a collision course with Oregon for a rematch in the Big Ten championship.

An undefeated Indiana team can change that if they beat the Buckeyes, but the conference championship could head back to Columbus this season if Ohio State wins out.

We'll see what happens with the Big Ten landscape over the next few weeks, but it's clear that no matter the circumstances, records or situation, the Ohio State and Michigan rivalry will be among the best in college football.

This year's edition of the long-standing rivalry game will once again take place on Thanksgiving weekend, this time from Columbus on November 30 at noon.
