Ohio State's basketball program has had a good offseason, landing multiple top transfers, though the Buckeyes just suffered a pretty tough loss.

Former Ohio State men's basketball star Roddy Gayle Jr. has announced his transfer destination. He's heading to play for rival Michigan.

Joe Tipton first reported the news.

"BREAKING: Ohio State transfer guard Roddy Gayle Jr. has committed to Michigan, he tells @On3sports . The 6-4 sophomore averaged 13.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game this season," he reported on Monday.

Gayle Jr., a 6-foot-4 sophomore, averaged 13.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game for the Buckeyes in 2023-24. He started 35 of 36 games for Jake Diebler's team, averaging 30.9 minutes per contest.

Michigan is now led by former FAU Owls head coach Dusty May, who replaced Juwan Howard in Ann Arbor. Landing a commitment from Gayle Jr. is a big-time get for the first-year Michigan Wolverines head coach.

The Michigan vs. Ohio State matchups should be quite interesting next season, with Gayle Jr. set to face off against his old team. You don't see transfers between Ohio State and Michigan happening very often, especially in basketball.
