Olivia Miles has reportedly made an unexpected decision regarding her future.
The star guard was expected to either enter this year's WNBA Draft or return to Notre Dame for a fifth season. Miles may not do either.
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Miles plans to forgo the draft and enter the transfer portal.
ESPN's latest mock draft projected Miles to go with the No. 2 pick behind UConn's Paige Bueckers. Miles remained undecided after TCU eliminated Notre Dame from the NCAA tournament.
"I am still thinking about what I want to do, but leaning towards the draft," Miles said after Saturday's 71-62 Sweet 16 loss, per ESPN's Michael Voepel. "But tomorrow, I might wake up and be like, 'I want to come back.' So, it just changes every day. I love college. I think I've outgrown it a little bit, though, so that makes my decision tougher to stay. It's comfortable, a place where you have security."
Miles averaged 14.1 points, 6.5 assists, and 6.0 rebounds in 101 career games for Notre Dame with a 46.8 field-goal percentage. Her 244 assists rank third on the program's all-time leaderboard.
The 22-year-old was a focal part of a Fighting Irish team that ranked No. 1 before losing three of five games before the NCAA tournament. After missing the entire 2023-24 season with a knee injury, Miles returned to average 15.4 points per game.
However, Miles scored 20 combined points in Notre Dame's three March Madness games. The 5-foot-10 guard injured her ankle in a first-round victory over Stephen F. Austin.
Joining the WNBA or staying at Notre Dame appeared to be Miles' two choices, but she could instead use her fifth and final year of collegiate eligibility with a different program.
"[Potentially being] a lottery pick is a lot to give up. I've worked hard for that," Miles said Saturday. "I truly believe I've put myself in great position for teams to look at me and see my value at that level. I have to trust myself with whatever decision I make; either decision would be good for me. I need to make a few calls and talk to some people. But I'll be prepared and confident in the decision."
