For the third time in the last five years, Las Vegas Aces superstar A'ja Wilson proved to be the best player in women's basketball, taking home the WNBA MVP award while leading the Aces to the postseason yet again. She's been so dominant that her Nike partners have decided to make a big decision on her contract with them.
According to ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania, Wilson is set to sign a six-year contract extension with Nike that will become one of the richest shoe deals for a women's basketball player ever. Terms of the exact dollar amounts in the deal are not yet available.
"Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson – a three-time WNBA MVP and two-time league champion – is signing a six-year contract extension with Nike in one of the richest shoe deals for a women's basketball player, sources told ESPN," Charania wrote.

Wilson signed with Nike all the way back in May of 2018, but it wasn't until this past May that it was announced that she would become just the 13th WNBA player ever to design and release her own signature shoe.
Wilson's shoe, the A'One, is reportedly slated for release in May 2025.
2024 saw Wilson set a new WNBA record with 26.9 points per game. She also averaged a career-high 11.9 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game while leading the league in blocks per game for the third year in a row.
In the postseason, Wilson averaged 21.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.5 blocks per game over six games as the Aces fell to the eventual WNBA champion New York Liberty.
At the international level, Wilson won an Olympic gold medal with the Team USA women's basketball team.
As an added bonus, Wilson got to see her beloved South Carolina Gamecocks alma mater become national champions for the second time in three years, beating Catilin Clark's Iowa Hawkeyes to finish the season as 38-0 champions.
We may remember 2024 as the Year of Caitlin Clark, but 2024 will have a special place in A'ja Wilson's heart for the rest of her life no doubt.
