NFL Offensive Linemen 'Wanted Guns' As Their Christmas Presents

Joe Burrow's recent Christmas gift for his offensive linemen generated buzz, but not as much as it would have if he'd gotten his protectors what they really wanted.
Last week, Burrow gifted the Cincinnati Bengals O-line authentic Japanese katana swords. Each lineman was given the opportunity to pick out his favorite, with some of the swords, which came from an armory in California, dating all the way back to the 1500s. Authentic katana swords costs thousands of dollars, so these were not cheap offerings.
Following Sunday's 24-6 win over the Cleveland Browns, Burrow revealed that originally, his linemen wanted a different kind of weapon.
"Well, they wanted guns ... And I was like 'I don't know about guns, guys.'" Burrow said. "I was in the weapon mindset, and I was like, 'What's a cool weapon? Samurai swords, I think, are pretty dang cool.'"
We agree, Joe, they are really cool. Also, Burrow is probably better off having not gotten guns for his linemen, because he likely would have been criticized in some corners for doing that.
Burrow also revealed that one of his employees, a woman named Nicole, was in charge of procuring the swords.
"So, she did a great job finding the best ones out there. So, I think guys were excited about it," he said.
Burrow's best personal weapon this season has been his arm. He threw for 252 yards and three touchdowns on Sunday, and is up to 4,229 yards and 39 touchdowns on the season.
Cincinnati has now won three games in a row to get to 7-8 and keep their playoff hopes alive. They still need a lot to break their way though, including winning their final two games against the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Bengals would also need the Broncos to lose out, and the Indianapolis Colts and Miami Dolphins to each lose at least one of their final two games.
