That's a big loss for the Chiefs since Butker has been one of the best kickers in the league these last few seasons. He's made 18-of-20 field goals this year and has only missed one extra point.
NFL fans quickly reacted to this news on social media.
"Of all the things that may end their winning streak this one seems most likely. The @chiefs offense has needed so many FGs this season.. KC is just 17th in redzone TD % this season.. converting just over 54% of the time," Trey Wingo tweeted.
"Massive news heading into Sunday. Screw the kicks and just go for 4th downs. I don't trust any other kicker off the street," another tweet read.
"Maybe now Andy Reid will want our team to score touchdowns?" another fan tweeted.
"Idk (I don't know) who the Chiefs are going to bring in but it should be noted that they've attempted multiple field goals every week but two this season. The bills aren't a great matchup but then KC gets CAR and LV, both in the top 6 of fantasy points allowed to opposing kickers," another tweet read.
"Last kick of the game for Harrison Butker was the "miss kick" out of bounds that gave Denver a short field…not sure if that's related to what now will put him on IR. Hope Butker is back quickly given he has always been one of the Chiefs best advantages," another fan tweeted.
The Chiefs will try and get to 10-0 without Butker's services when they travel to Orchard Park to play the Buffalo Bills. It's another chapter in this storied rivalry between Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes.
Kickoff will be at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS.
