NFL Fans React To The Injury Diagnosis For Patrick Mahomes

Arguably the biggest story in the NFL on Sunday was Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes leaving the game with an ankle injury.
Mahomes hurt his right ankle in the second half of yesterday's 21-7 win over the Cleveland Browns, which moved the Chiefs to 13-1 on the season. Backup Carson Wentz relieved Mahomes and closed out the afternoon, and it's possible the former No. 2 overall pick could be needed in a larger capacity moving forward.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirmed Monday that Mahomes did suffer a high-ankle sprain, which might put his status in doubt for Saturday's game against the Houston Texans.
"#Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes was diagnosed with a mild high-ankle sprain following tests, and he's still considered week-to-week," Rapoport tweeted. "Tests confirmed initial thoughts. The schedule is tough, with a Saturday game then a quick turnaround for Christmas."
Kansas City plays Houston Saturday on a short week before turning around and facing the Pittsburgh Steelers four days later on Christmas Day. Fans are already speculating on Mahomes possibly having to miss time.
"Carson Wentz and Sam Howell might start games in Week 16. What a world," said Commanders reported Ben Standig.
"IS THAT CARSON WENTZ'S MUSIC!?" another commenter asked.
"No chance in hell Mahomes would let it happen but I don't think it would be crazy to sit him against the Texans," a Chiefs fan said.
"I want him to play against us on Christmas. I NEVER want handouts or any opportunities for an advantage. I want to earn everything. In order to be the best, you have to be able to beat the best," a Steelers fan added.
"It's Mahomes, he will limp around, throw an underhand pass, then when it's 3rd and 16 with the game on the line, somehow he will figure out a way to run really fast to get 17 yards and penalty for late hate. We have already seen this story like 20 times," chimed in BSO's Robert Littal.
We've seen Mahomes gut it out on a bad wheel before, and if the playoffs were next week, there's no doubt in our minds he would play.
However, Kansas City does have a two-game lead on Buffalo for the AFC's No. 1 seed--though it's really a one-game advantage since the Bills own the tiebreaker--so it might be worth it for Chiefs head coach Andy Reid to be cautious with his superstar passer, at least for the next couple of games.
