The New Orleans Saints are fully immersed in their search for a new head coach after the end of a disappointing 2024 regular season.

The Saints finished with a 5-12 record and a last-place finish in the NFC South. During a season filled with debilitating injuries, the team elected to fire head coach Dennis Allen in early November.

The team is hard at work interviewing candidates for the opening, and one of the greatest Saints players of all time has voiced his opinion on who he'd like to see take the spot.

According to USA TODAY's Crissy Froyd, Saints legend Drew Brees said that he would like to see Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn be the next Saints coach.

Glenn has history with New Orleans, working as a defensive backs coach from 2016 through 2020. Froyd also noted that Glenn was the "runner-up" to Allen when he was chosen as Sean Payton's successor in 2022.

"If he's good enough for Brees, he's good enough for me lol," said one Saints fan.

"That settles it. Our goat has spoken," another fan said.

"Would love Aaron except he might get an offer from a franchise in a better spot than the Saints right now," said one fan, noting that Glenn is a popular coaching candidate around the league.

"He's getting the job just of this alone," another fan predicted.

"now how about the state of the saints and their front office," one fan asked.

The Saints haven't made the playoffs since 2020, Brees' final season in the NFL. In that time, they've failed to win more than nine games in a single season.

It appears that change is in store for the Saints next season, and that change will start at the top with the head coaching position. After another disappointing and injury-filled season, the Saints may also move on from veteran quarterback Derek Carr.

After years of being one of the NFL's most consistent franchises with Brees and Sean Payton leading the way, the Saints are now in a period of prolonged uncertainty.

We'll see how they choose to handle it with their head coaching opening, and how they take care of their quarterback situation later on in the offseason.
