NFL Fans Are Calling For The Cowboys To Bench Cooper Rush

Dallas Cowboys fans are losing their patience with quarterback Cooper Rush.
Rush has been starting in place of Dak Prescott since the latter was lost for the season with a hamstring injury. His play has been up-and-down, and following Monday night's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, some Cowboys fans, as well as former star wide receiver Dez Bryant, called for the team to bench Rush in favor of third-stringer Trey Lance.
On Sunday, after Rush lost a fumble in the red zone during the first half against the Carolina Panthers, the pitchforks were once again out on social media.
All over X/Twitter, fans called for Dallas to put Rush on the bench and put Lance in the game.
"Mike can bench Cooper Rush, that's 100% on him, and 100% his fault for not benching him," said one fan after Rush's costly fumble. "I think I can speak for the entire fanbase on this one: We've all seen ENOUGH of Cooper Rush!!!!"
"At this point… Just bench Cooper Rush," a second fan added.
"Bench cooper rush please," a third fan said.
"Cooper Rush throwing every pass a foot behind the receiver … why not just bench him and put Lance in!" a fourth fan chimed in.
"Curious about what new and interesting way Cooper Rush can disappoint here," a fifth person added.
Dallas fans are understandably frustrated with how this season has gone, as the Cowboys entered today 5-8 and clinging to their playoff hopes by a thread. Some of that leftover angst is what is fueling the animosity toward Rush.
However, overall, Rush hasn't played poorly Sunday. He just threw his second touchdown pass of the game, an 11-yard hookup with Jalen Tolbert, and is currently 13-of-21 passing for 145 yards and those two scores.
Dallas is leading the Panthers 17-7 early in the third quarter. The game is being shown regionally on FOX.
