[ssMike McCarthy and the Dallas Cowboys elected to part ways this week after the two sides were unable to come to an agreement on a new contract. McCarthy reportedly wanted a longer deal, and the Cowboys were only willing to offer a short-term contract.

McCarthy, a former Super Bowl winner, is now one of the top names in the coaching market. He'll command a lot of attention from teams due to his resume, and he's already been treated well in his first interview.

According to ESPN's Courtney Cronin, the Bears flew McCarthy in on a private plane for their interview with him this week. The Athletic's Adam Jahns says McCarthy flew in, had the interview and stayed overnight before going home on Thursday.

The Bears appear to be locked in on McCarthy as a top candidate, which makes sense given their current situation. McCarthy was able to get the best out of a developing Aaron Rodgers, eventually winning a Super Bowl with the future Hall of Fame quarterback.

If he's hired as head coach, the Bears will be hoping for similar results when it comes to the development of Caleb Williams, who they selected with the No. 1 overall pick last year.

McCarthy was also successful in the regular season with Dallas, but they were never able to make a deep run in the playoffs during his tenure. In fact, the Cowboys have not played in an NFC Championship game since the 1995 season.

The Bears last played in an NFC title game in 2011 against the Packers, who were coached by McCarthy during the Super Bowl run.

McCarthy is also set to speak with the New Orleans Saints about their head coach opening, so it makes sense that the Bears were so urgent about getting him in to speak to the front office this week.

We'll see what happens to McCarthy and the rest of the coaching carousel over the next few weeks, but it's clear that the former Cowboys head coach is in high demand by a team that is looking to establish its future in the right way.
