The USC Trojans are one of the newest members of the Big Ten this season, but they didn't pull out the red carpet for their opponents on Saturday.

Before kickoff against Nebraska began, several players from both teams met and exchanged words.

Things between the two rosters escalated far beyond the shared part of the field, and coaches and other players were eventually able to calm them down.

The Huskers are looking for win No. 6 on the season, and they're in the middle of a three-game losing streak. If they're able to win, they'll be bowl-eligible for the postseason after a long few seasons without success.

The Trojans started the season well with a big win over LSU, but they've faltered throughout the year, losing four of their last five games.

They'll look to bounce back against a Nebraska team that is seeking to complete the first step in Matt Rhule's program overhaul as head coach.

"We want to be a place that people come to," Rhule said last year before coaching his first season in Lincoln.

"We want to be a destination people come to come talk about football."

The Huskers haven't been nationally relevant in over two decades, but if they're able to consistently play in the postseason, recruits and transfers are more likely to join the program.

Nebraska has one of the most passionate and dedicated fanbases in the country, and those fans could help by continuing to show their support.

The Huskers will look to end their losing streak against USC on Saturday, marking the first team the two opponents have met as members of the same conference.

USC joined the Big Ten this season, along with Washington, Oregon and UCLA.  They'll end the year with a trip to Pasadena to play UCLA in the Rose Bowl, then they'll take on Notre Dame on November 30 in the last game of the regular season.

For now, it seems that Saturday's game will be a spirited matchup between the two new conference rivals. We'll see which program will emerge victorious in this game between two of college football's most storied programs.
