With Hurricane Helene making landfall and carving a path of destruction in the southeastern United States, thousands of people are expected to be evacuated for their safety. But not everyone has a place to go, so one NASCAR racetrack is opening its doors to the displaced.
On Wednesday, the Charlotte Motor Speedway with Concord, North Carolina announced that it has opened its campgrounds for evacuees. Per the announcement, the speedway will offer accommodations "as long as possible" and gave details on how and where to check in.
"As preparations for next month's Bank of America ROVAL™ 400 weekend continue, Charlotte Motor Speedway will open its campgrounds beginning at 12 p.m. Wednesday for evacuees seeking refuge from Hurricane Helene, which is expected to bring high winds, heavy rain and flooding to regions across the Southeast over the next several days..."
"With severe weather in the forecast, accommodations will be available as long as possible."
