New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo missed Monday's game against the Washington Nationals after fainting in his hotel room.

Nimmo hit his head after falling in his bathroom overnight. While he had what Mets manager Carlos Mendoza called a "pretty big cut" on his head, the outfielder didn't sustain a concussion.

"He went through all the tests this morning," Mendoza said before Monday's game, via the Associated Press. "Wanted to make sure we weren't missing anything. Luckily everything came back negative, so I think we got lucky there."

Nimmo told reporters he wasn't feeling well when waking up around 5:15 a.m. to use the bathroom, where he cramped and fainted. He had no recollection of passing out when waking up on the floor to a bloody forehead.

"I've never had anything like this happen where I blacked out, and I literally cannot tell you what happened," Nimmo said, via MLB.com's Anthony DiComo. "I don't know."

Nimmo, the longest-tenured Met, is midway through his ninth season with the big league club. The 31-year-old is batting .247/.367/.448 with 13 home runs and a team-high 50 RBI.

After a sluggish start, Nimmo caught fire to post a .315/.406/.598 slash line with six home runs in June. He went 3-for-4 with a double and his 100th career home run in Sunday's 10-5 loss to the Houston Astros, which lasted 11 innings after a lengthy rain delay.

Injuries derailed the start of his career, but Nimmo played 77 of this season's first 81 games after exceeding 150 games in each of the last two seasons. Per FanGraphs, only six outfielders have a higher WAR than Nimmo (17.4) since the start of 2020.

While Nimmo won't be available off the bench Monday, he hopes to be "as ready for [Tuesday] as possible."
