Micah Parsons Gets Honest About Mike McCarthy's Exit In Dallas

While Dallas Cowboys fans may be celebrating the team's dismissal of head coach Mike McCarthy after five years at the helm, the players aren't in a celebratory mood.
On the latest episode of his The Edge podcast, Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons got blunt in talking about how much of a blow it felt like to him. McCarthy is the only head coach he's ever known in the NFL since entering the league in 2021. He spoke glowingly about McCarthy, saying that it "hurts" to lose McCarthy and expressing hope that the next coach can "build a winning culture."
"He's always been good to us. Losing a great coach like Mike hurts. It's gonna be a very interesting offseason. It's gonna be a complete reset. I trust that we're gonna make the right decisions..." Parsons said.
"As one of the leaders of this team, I'm gonna be looking forward to accepting all challenges and embrace whatever comes to help lead my team to a championship. We gotta move on. We can't think about the past.
"There are no setbacks. Some of the greatest players learn to adjust. … At the end of the day, coaches can only do so much. Us as players, we got to build a winning culture. I said we're gonna hold the (Super Bowl) trophy because I believe in our guys."

In five seasons with the Cowboys, Mike McCarthy went 49-35 with three straight seasons of 12-5 and a playoff appearance between 2021 and 2023. But in that span, the Cowboys won just one playoff game and last year's playoff loss saw them get blown out in their own building by the 7-seeded Green Bay Packers.
The 2024 season can hardly be viewed in a proper light as just about every superstar on offense and defense was injured at some point in the season.
Parsons was no exception.
The Cowboys will be hard-pressed to find a coach with experience who can do a significantly better job than McCarthy did of simply keeping them in playoff contention, let alone reaching the Super Bowl.
But the job is arguably the most desirable on the market. Someone solid is bound to be in the mix.
