A Look Into Melania Trump's Younger Years (1:35)

Melania Trump is taking heat on social media for her decision on the annual White House Easter Egg Roll event.

The annual White House Easter Egg Roll event is typically hosted - or at least in part - by the First Lady of the United States. Michelle Obama played a big role in the event, as has Jill Biden. Melania Trump has done the same during President Trump's previous term.

The White House will be hosting the Easter Egg Roll later this spring. However, it will come with a steep cost.

This year, the White House is selling corporate sponsorship for the event. A $200,000 check gets you invited to a special brunch hosted by Melania Trump.

From the report:

The platinum-level sponsor who donates $200,000 will also get four tickets to a brunch hosted by Melania Trump, a 900-square foot booth onsite, branded snacks or souvenirs, naming rights for specific areas of the event, a callout in the program brochure or social media posts, and a chance to "engage with White House Press Corps on [the] South Lawn," according to a pitch deck first obtained by TheNew York Times

"By partnering with this historic tradition, sponsors can engage with diverse audiences, showcase their commitment to community and education, and align with a beloved American event," reads the deck, titled "Sponsorship opportunities." In addition to the $200,000 platinum sponsorship, the brochure also offers a $125,000 gold-level package and a $75,000 silver tier.

The pitch document was created by Harbinger, an event company founded in 2013 that has also produced the 2021 March for Our Lives and a media day for Uber's self-driving technology, according to its website.

Many are criticizing the White House and Melania Trump for the decision.

"Constant grift. It's the theme of this administration," one fan wrote.

"Have they seen the price of eggs?" another fan joked.

"For $200,000, CEOs can slap their corporate logo on Donald Trump dressed as the Easter Bunny. It's absurdly corrupt," U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren wrote.
