The Las Vegas Raiders are incredibly lucky to have Maxx Crosby. The former fourth-round pick in 2019 has become one of the best defensive ends in the entire NFL. Crosby is a leader for the Raiders who was rewarded with a massive contract extension two years ago. Crosby and his wife were in Ypsilanti, Michigan on Friday where they received a heartwarming NCAA honor.

Maxx Crosby and his wife, Rachel, were in attendance at Eastern Michigan University for the unveiling of “Crosby Field.” Maxx and Rachel met at EMU and were both athletic standouts. They made a $1 million donation to the athletic department last year that helped fund numerous renovations.

“Crosby Field” is what they’re calling the new playing surface inside EMU’s Rynearson Stadium in Ypsilanti. The new renovations include the removal of the old track surface and installation of new gray and green turf throughout the stadium.

“Maxx is somebody who wants to leave a legacy here and wants to give back to our student-athletes,” Vice President/Director of Athletics Scott Wetherbee said in a press release. “Maxx cares about Eastern. He wears it on his sleeve; he literally wears it on his arm and cares about this place. [Crosby] told me he wanted an opportunity to do something, and we talked about this field. He stepped up and there were more willing people in line to give and they followed him. I want to say thank you to Rachel and Maxx for stepping up with this lead gift and getting these projects off the ground. I am forever grateful to Maxx and Rachel for making this happen and I could not be happier that we named this field after them.”

Maxx Crosby wants to be a Raider for life.

Crosby is excited about the new direction of the team, especially after they retained interim head coach Antonio Pierce.

Crosby recently spoke about his excitement around the direction of the team and his goal of bringing a title to Las Vegas. He compared himself to some legendary NBA figures in the process.

"The guys who inspire me are the Kobes (Bryant) and the (Michael) Jordans; the guys that stayed at the same place and won in the same place,” Crosby said on The Jim Rome Show, per NFL.com’s Christian Gonzales. “No offense to the guys like LeBron and those dudes — I won’t give them some heat, but they took the easier road traveled and that’s not the way I look at it."

The LeBron part of that quote is interesting. Crosby is basically saying that he went to the Miami Heat and formed the Big 3 simply to win the NBA title. This discounts LeBron’s championships in Cleveland and Los Angeles. However, Crosby’s point is well made — he wants to stick with one NFL team and see them become champions.

"Going through the ups and downs and the hardships is going to make it that much sweeter when I do win a Super Bowl,” Crosby concluded. “So, I plan on being here for a very long time and I plan on winning here. You know when I signed that contract, I didn’t have any type of, you know, thought of leaving or idea of leaving. I feel like I’m going to be a Raider for life."
