Manchester United to trigger Harry Maguire contract option: 'We are starving for leaders on the pitch'

Manchester United are set to trigger the one-year option in Harry Maguire’s contract with the club “starving for leaders on the pitch” according to head coach Ruben Amorim. Maguire’s current terms at Old Trafford are set to expire at the end of the season. The Athletic reported last month that United faced the prospect of losing the central defender to a foreign club able to sign a pre-contract agreement with him from January 1. But United are set to exercise their right to a further year with Amorim keen for him to be key to turning the side’s fortunes around.
