Earlier this week, the police arrested Luigi Mangione in Pennsylvania. The former Ivy League student is the main suspect in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
Mangione, 26, is being held at the State Correctional Institution in Huntington, Pennsylvania. In an effort to provide the public an update on the alleged shooter's prison conditions, NewsNation had journalist Alex Caprariello stationed outside of the facility. Believe it or not, he actually got the scoop from some inmates who were willing to shout out answers.
"Earlier today, I was reporting outside these prison walls when all of a sudden I heard my name," Caprariello said. "I couldn't tell if they were catcalling me or heckling me or even saying my name whatsoever. I started reporting on Luigi Mangione's prison conditions as I was finding them out. As soon as the live shot was over, they turned around and said, 'The conditions suck.'"
NewsNation anchor Ashleigh Banfield then asked the inmates if the food being served at the State Correctional Institution Huntingdon was OK. It didn't take long for people to respond that it was "terrible."
The inmates also shared this message regarding Mangione's current situation: "Luigi's conditions suck. Free Luigi!"

As far as interviews go, this might be the most unique one we've seen in a long time. Banfield would agree with that assessment.
"This is the strangest interview I've ever conducted," she said while anchoring NewsNation on Wednesday night.
Mangione hasn't said anything publicly since Tuesday. As he was being escorted to the courthouse, he yelled, "This is completely out of touch and an insult to the intelligence of the American people."
When the police detained Mangione, he reportedly had a note on him that's being considered a "claim of responsibility." Apparently, his manifesto included this line: "Frankly, these parasites simply had it coming."
It's being reported that Mangione disliked the healthcare industry because of the way a sick relative was treated. That has not yet been confirmed though.
Make no mistake about it, we'll all learn a lot about Luigi Mangione over the next few weeks.
