LSU's cheerleaders were involved in a dangerous scene at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Saturday night.

Brian Kelly's team fell to Alabama at Tiger Stadium, 42-13, on Saturday night. During the third quarter of the game, LSU's defense sacked Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe on third down, appearing to force a punt. However, the officials called a facemask penalty on the tackle, giving Alabama 15 yards and a first down. LSU's fans proceeded to throw a ton of garbage onto the field, causing a stoppage of play. The garbage throwing was also dangerous for LSU's cheerleaders.

LSU's cheerleaders had to cover their heads with signs to prevent themselves from getting knocked in the head.

ESPN college football announcer Kirk Herbstreit ripped the "clown" fans for throwing garbage onto the field. This is the second time that's happened this season. Texas fans threw garbage onto the field during their loss to Georgia earlier in the year.

"Why has that become a thing this year? Some idiots do this in Texas and now all of a sudden we see it popping up in college football. Enough's enough, clowns. What are you doing?"

He added: "It's great. That's your home cheerleaders. Just embarrassing to LSU. It's embarrassing to college football. And, just around the country, enough's enough."

Throwing garbage onto the field has become a growing - and problematic - trend in the college football world this season. Hopefully, we won't see any more of it moving forward, but that's probably not going to be the case.

If anything, we'll probably be seeing more of it. Drunk, obnoxious fans have now gotten it into their heads that it's OK to throw things onto the field when you disagree with a call.

Texas was fined $250,000 for doing it earlier this year. LSU can likely expect a similar punishment. But that's probably not going to stop fans from doing it.
