Lions Coaches Getting Ripped For Team's Performance vs. Commanders

For the better part of two weeks, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn have been getting non-stop praise and head coaching interviews. But with the team struggling mightily against the Washington Commanders today, Johnson and Glenn are in everyone's crosshairs.
It's been a particularly bad day for Glenn's defense, as the 45 points the team has given up midway through the fourth quarter are already the most that the team has allowed all season.
But Johnson is having a tough time making his case as the top offensive mind in the NFL too. Despite some incredible plays from the offense, quarterback Jared Goff has completed just 14 of 22 passes with two interceptions. A designed trick play in the fourth quarter saw wide receiver Jameson Williams throw a brutal interception of his own that directly led to a touchdown.
Suffice it to say, it's been a bad day at the office for both coaches, and they're getting ripped apart for it. Many are saying that the two spent too much time interviewing for head coaching jobs and not enough time preparing for the biggest game of the year:
"Glenn and Johnson spent a week doing interviews and came out and laid (expletive) eggs. Robertson injury was huge to start game," one user remarked.
"and this is exactly why coordinators shouldn't be allowed to interview during the playoffs. during the biggest game of the season and Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn aren't doing well," wrote another.
"Aaron Glenn & Ben Johnson spent the last 2 weeks interviewing for head coaching jobs, not game planning for the Commanders. Dan Quinn served Dan Campbell a big ole serving of his own medicine AND outside of those FACTS, our defense sucks!" a third remarked.
"@Lions best season of our entire lives only to have it ruin by coordinators too busy to gameplan for the playoffs. Pitiful preparing and performance from Glenn and Johnson. Good riddance. This was an awful ending to your resumes," a fourth wrote.
There's a very good chance that Glenn and Johnson will still wind up getting head coaching jobs regardless of the outcome of this game. But if this is their final game with the team, they're both leaving on very bitter terms.
And if either one of them comes back next year, they may be on thin ice with the fans.
