The Los Angeles Lakers squared off against the Denver Nuggets on Friday night. LeBron James, however, was in Sacramento watching his son's state championship.

James suffered a groin injury last Saturday against the Boston Celtics. It was then reported on Friday that he'd attend Sierra Canyon's state championship game. There aren't many chances where he gets to watch Bryce compete since his schedule overlaps with the NBA's season.

While some basketball fans applauded James for being a supportive father, others criticized his behavior. For starters, they thought he was a bit extra with his celebrations on the sideline. There was a moment towards the end of the game where he was flexing from the crowd.

Fans also accused James of faking his injury since he appeared to be just fine during Friday's game.

"He doesn't care that lakers are on a 4 game losing streak and are about to miss the playoffs, classic LeBron," one fan tweeted.

"Ain't nothing wrong with this man groin . He just didn't want to play that schedule," a second fan declared.

"He saw the NBA road trip lined up with the state tournament games and 'hurt his groin.' He had an opportunity to be a relatable person by just coming out and saying he needed off for that reason, but didn't," another fan said.

"Doesn't seem too concerned about his groin injury," a social media user wrote.

For what it's worth, the Lakers had no issue with James attending his son's state championship.

"The Lakers support this," Chris Haynes said. "I'm told the Lakers honor his support of his son and his family, and they view this championship as being a huge moment that he can't miss."

In LeBron's defense, ESPN insider Shams Charania said he'd miss "at least one to two weeks" because of his hamstring injury.

If the injury timeline for James is closer to one week, that would explain why he was moving around pretty well on Friday night.
