The father of one of the NFL's all-time greats received some backlash for his reporting earlier this week. An an event, Larry Fitzgerald Sr. shared news about Randy Moss and his health without the permission of the Hall of Famer and his family.

Fitzgerald's son also called him out for the post, in which he said that Moss' recent announcement of an absence from his analyst role on television at ESPN was due to a diagnosis of liver cancer.

"66th NFF Hall of Fame Ceremony here in Las Vegas just heard that Vikings HOF Randy Moss has liver cancer. Let's show the power of prayer and pull Moss through this," Fitzgerald Sr. said, prompting a response from Moss' son and former LSU tight end Thaddeus.

"This is disgusting. You have no right to try to make private matters public for the sake of engagement. I do not believe my father talks to you, so check your [expletive] sources," Moss told the elder Fitzgerald.

"Dad, I think it's best to respect his privacy on this," said Fitzgerald Jr., former star of the Arizona Cardinals. "If he feels ready to share more about his health, he will. In the meantime, let's focus on sending him positive energy, prayers, and support rather than speculating."

After the initial post, Fitzgerald Sr. is responding by showing more support for Moss and his family.

"I have no comment other than I know Randy, love Randy and I'm praying for Randy," Fitzgerald Sr. said, speaking to the Daily Mail.

He's been an editor and columnist in Minnesota for several years, covering sports in the state for the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder for the better part of the last four decades.

"I just want to let the viewers know that me and my wife, me and my family, we are battling something internally. I have some great doctors around me," Moss said last week on Sunday NFL Countdown, explaining why he was wearing sunglasses on the show.

"I couldn't miss the show, I wanted to be here with you guys, I feel great. But if y'all see me with these Michigan turnover glasses that I have on, it's not being disrespectful."

Moss has received prayers and well wishes from several members of the NFL world over the last week, including his former teammate with the New England Patriots, Tom Brady.
