For the past few weeks, Kirk Herbstreit has been bringing his dog Peter to "College GameDay." It didn't take long for his young Golden Retriever to become a fan favorite.
Herbstreit lost his longtime travel companion Ben to a battle with cancer earlier this month. He paid tribute to his beloved dog on "College GameDay" with a beautiful monologue about how much joy he brought to everyone's lives.
"Ben didn't care who you were. Everyone deserved his love. I think we can all learn from that at a time where everything seems to be aimed at dividing us," Herbstreit said. "What I experienced with Ben was that and so much. Dogs only flaws as species is they don't live long enough, but the warmth they give us never goes away, so neither will Ben."
It appears Herbstreit has rediscovered that warmth in the form of Peter, who made a special appearance during the picks segment on "College GameDay" this Saturday.
As Herbstreit was making his pick for the Auburn-Alabama game, Peter popped up on the right side of the desk to see what everyone's talking about.

Fans around the country raved about Peter's special guest appearance.
"I love college football but this morning I'm just here for Peter Herbstreit," one fan commented.
"Kirk Herbstreit's dog Peter is a whole mood and makes College Gameday even better," another fan said.
"Peter is the best guest picker of all," a third fan wrote.
Honestly, "College GameDay" will be ten times better than it already is if Peter does this more often.
Fans should expect to see Peter a few more times before the 2024 college football season comes to an end.
