Kirk Herbstreit Got Emotional After Ohio State Won National Championship

ESPN broadcaster Kirk Herbstreit couldn't help but get emotional after watching Ohio State defeat Notre Dame in the national championship game on Monday night.
Herbstreit played for the Buckeyes from 1989-1993. It's no secret that he has a ton of admiration for his alma mater. More importantly, he has love for the players who went through a ton of adversity this season. When Ohio State lost to Michigan in November, countless people, including us, ripped the program for falling short to its fiercest rival yet again. Fast forward to this Monday, and the Buckeyes can call themselves champions of the world.
During ESPN's postgame coverage of the national title game, Herbstreit was asked about Ohio State's performance. He couldn't help but let his emotions out on national television.
"Don't start with me, man. I'm a little emotional right now. I'm fired up for these guys,' Herbstreit said. "When I call these games I'm incredibly objective. I love all of these Ohio State teams, but this team because of what they went through to get to this point, you're just happy, you know?"
Herbstreit was a little choked up after he made that remark.

Herbstreit might try to keep things professional, but he's not going to lie about his fandom. Before this game even kicked off, he said he'd be rooting for the Buckeyes.
"I'm an Ohio State junkie. And so when they do well, and I'm able to enjoy it, there's nobody more thrilled than me," Herbstreit said. "So yeah, I'll be locked in, and if that scarlet gray confetti comes down, I'm gonna be trying to race to get to the field to hug my son and be a part of that celebration if they're lucky enough to win."
Some fans weren't pleased with Herbstreit's postgame antics, accusing him of being unprofessional. That might be a tad unfair, but he has become public enemy No. 1 in the college football world over the past month or so.
Do you think Herbstreit was out of line for his postgame behavior?
