Kirk Herbstreit Facing Heat For Unnecessary Shot At Indiana

Kirk Herbstreit was Indiana's biggest hater after losing to Notre Dame on Friday.
During Saturday's edition of College GameDay, he went after Indiana, saying that the program didn't belong in the game considering the other teams that were left out.
"Indiana was outclassed in that game. It was not a team that should've been on that field when you consider other teams that could've been there. It's no knock on Indiana, they had a great year but we've got to move forward with the playoff and hope that the committee does a better job of weighing who the best 12 are versus who is the most deserving because by golly, they got 11 wins but they didn't beat anybody," Herbstreit said.

Hebrstreit then followed that up by pondering what Friday's game would've looked like if Cam Ward and Miami played Notre Dame.

College football fans aren't happy with those comments.
"I don't understand why Indiana is being the scapegoat here??? Here are just a few examples of teams getting blown out in the 4-team CFP Semis in the last 7 years… And I could keep going too," one tweet read.
"When the SEC starts paying the bills, you get a once-non-partisan college football analyst going full heel turn into an SEC shill. Also, we didn't HAVE to go to 12 teams. There aren't 12 teams capable of winning the national title and never have been. But part of the deal when you have a 12-team playoff is that you have to...you know...pick 12 teams," another tweet read.
"Strength of schedule is an argument between an 11-1 or 12-0 team with a weak schedule and a 10-2 team with a strong schedule. 3 losses is where you lose me. You diminish the regular season by this logic," another fan tweeted.
"If we're going to leave an 11-1 Big Ten team at home to put a 9-3 SEC team instead, there is no actual point to the playoff. Sometimes, a team is going to rightfully qualify for the playoffs, and then they're going to lose. That's just sports," another tweet read.
Notre Dame will play Georgia in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals on January 1.
