Kirk Cousins Has Nearly Matched Tom Brady In 1 Stunning Category

Barring a trade, Kirk Cousins will be remaining with the Atlanta Falcons for the 2025 NFL season. The team elected to keep him on the roster on Saturday, passing the deadline that would have voided his $10 million roster bonus for being on the team in the new league year.
Cousins may be a backup to an emerging Michael Penix, but he's nearly matched the greatest of all time when it comes to one category.
According to Spotrac, Cousins has made a guaranteed $331.6 million in his career. That's only a shade under Tom Brady's cumulative career total of $332 million in guaranteed money.

He also has 34 less playoff wins in his career.

Brady won seven Super Bowls in his career and Cousins still has yet to win more than one playoff game, but he's certainly a Hall of Fame talent when it comes to getting paid.
Unless he's traded, Cousins will begin the season as Michael Penix's backup in Atlanta. The Falcons elected to bench Cousins last year as they pushed for the playoffs. Their bid for a spot in the postseason was ultimately unsuccessful, but Penix showed enough for the team to feel comfortable moving forward with him as the starter.
Cousins struggled down the stretch, throwing nine interceptions and only one touchdown in his final five games of the season.
The Falcons haven't made the playoffs since 2017, and a lot has changed since then. Their head coach that season was Dan Quinn, who's now leading a resurgence with the Washington Commanders. Matt Ryan and Julio Jones were offensive leaders on that team. Ryan is now retired, working as an analyst for CBS while Jones hasn't played since 2023.
The Falcons are looking to move toward the future, but they'll have a former star in Cousins on their roster for at least one more season.
Cousins entered the NFL as a relative afterthought - he was the second quarterback drafted by his team that year - but he's made a career for himself out of being an accurate, reliable passer.
Cousins may never reach the on-field accolades of a player like Tom Brady, but he's not far off when it comes to financial accomplishments from their NFL careers.
