Kirk Cousins Doesn't Hold Back On His Disappointing Play In Atlanta

Kirk Cousins knows that he hasn't played well this season.
Cousins was benched by head coach Raheem Morris on Tuesday, paving the way for Michael Penix Jr. to start the final three games of the regular season.
Cousins struggled again during Monday's 15-9 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, throwing for only 112 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Over his last five games, he's only thrown one touchdown but has thrown nine interceptions.
He spoke to the media for the first time since getting benched on Wednesday and confirmed that he hasn't played up to the standard that he sets for himself.
"There is a standard that I have for myself and that the team has for me that unfortunately I wasn't playing up to that standard consistently enough and so it is what it is," Cousins said. "You roll with it and you still get ready, one play away kind of thing and support Mike (Penix Jr)."

Cousins signed with the Falcons during free agency in March before the team drafted Penix Jr. with the eighth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. It was a move that stunned everyone in the football world since they just signed Cousins to a big contract.
Well, the Falcons will get to see what they have in Penix Jr. since he has barely played this season. The plan was to have him sit behind Cousins for the whole season but that timeline has been sped up now.
He'll make the first start of his NFL career this Sunday against the New York Giants. It's a big game for the Falcons since they're only a game behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for first in the NFC South.
They have the tiebreaker over the Bucs since they beat them twice this season so all they need to do is tie them in the standings at the end of the season.
Kickoff for Sunday's game will be at 1 p.m. ET.
